Our Story Begins Here
It all began with a Mother’s dream
Where it all started
Our journey hasn’t been without struggles. It all began with a mother’s dream to create community—a space where children could learn with delight, where mothers could breathe, and where families could connect year-round. With little available, I started a homeschool group that grew quickly into a thriving network of families who showed up for one another and found belonging.
With the support of a VELA Education Fund grant, that dream has grown into a two-day-a-week drop-off enrichment program from my home studio. What began as a seed of an idea is now a flourishing program that fills up two months in advance, giving children inspiring hands-on learning while parents find the support and rest they deserve.
But our vision is bigger. We dream of a permanent home that will allow us to expand into a five-day learning space for homeschool families, especially those from underserved communities. We hope to offer à la carte classes as well as a three-day enrichment program rooted in connection—connecting to their food through gardening and cooking, to each other through art and community, and to themselves through nature, entrepreneurship, and core subjects. For this to become a reality, we will need the support of a grant or loan, and we trust it is only a matter of time before this dream takes root and flourishes.

FounderJannet is the founder of Flourish Homeschool Group, a thriving homeschool community and enrichment program based in San Diego. What began as her personal search for connection as a single mother homeschooling her two boys has grown into a vibrant network of over 1,500 families.
Before stepping into the world of home education, Jannet spent over 12 years as an entrepreneur and served as a CFO and controller for restaurants and hotels. Her business acumen, leadership, and financial expertise laid a strong foundation for building sustainable, community-driven programs.
With support from the VELA Education Fund, she launched a two-day-a-week drop-off enrichment program that now fills months in advance—offering children hands-on learning in nature, art, gardening, and science, while giving parents the support and breathing space they need.
Jannet’s vision is to expand Flourish into a five-day learning space that nurtures children’s curiosity, strengthens families, and revives the “village” of community support that every family deserves. As both a mother and a mission-driven leader, she is passionate about reimagining education in a way that honors connection, creativity, and community.

Arts DirectorShe is a multidisciplinary artist with over ten years of experience in graphic design, flamenco dance, and photography.
Her contribution to the arts program focuses on creating creative experiences that allow each person to understand and express their inner world through visual forms and tangible processes. Through thoughtfully designed activities, she supports the transformation of emotional and abstract experiences into images, structures, and physical forms that support integration and expression.
Her approach integrates drawing, illustration, hands-on art practices, movement, and sensory exploration as ways of giving form to internal experiences, supporting conscious development through direct and experiential engagement.
She also incorporates elements from nature as an essential part of the creative process, encouraging the mindful use of natural materials and artistic exploration, strengthening sensitivity, creativity, and connection to the environment.
All of this work is oriented toward supporting the holistic growth of each individual and cultivating a harmonious, respectful, and safe environment, where art becomes a tool for human development, shared values, and community well-being.

Garden DirectorAB is a farmer, educator, and community builder based in San Diego with over 40 years of hands-on experience in gardens and more than three decades of producing community-centered events rooted in music, art, and education. As our Garden Director, AB brings a deep passion for urban regeneration and a joyful, relational approach to learning that invites children to connect with nature through curiosity, movement, and care.
AB will be implementing sustainable garden systems while guiding students in the essentials of soil stewardship, plant care, and seasonal growing. Beginning in the spring semester, he will launch a student-supported nursery, composting lab, and hands-on planting program, giving young learners the opportunity to experience the full life cycle of the garden.
Through concepts like “terrain tending” and “soil stewarding,” AB teaches children that healthy ecosystems begin with mindful relationships—with the land, with one another, and with themselves. His work also incorporates fundamental motor skills to support physical literacy, coordination, and embodied learning in the garden space.
Driven by a belief in service, integrity, and love, AB aspires to create environments where people of all ages and backgrounds can come together to co-create thriving, healthy ecosystems—while having as much fun as possible.
❊ Our Mission
From Tiny Sprouts.
To Thriving Thinkers.
At Flourish, we believe every child deserves an education filled with movement, laughter, dirt under their fingernails, friendships, and meaningful learning that goes far beyond the traditional classroom. Whether they’re watching a bee pollinate flowers, witnessing a chrysalis emerge, creating surprising works of art, sipping ethically sourced cacao while learning about its origins, or simply learning how to connect better with their peers—this is a place where kids come to grow, play, and learn.
Flourish Enrichment was founded with a simple goal: to create a safe space where young learners experience the magic of connection—to their food, their environment, themselves, and each other. What started as a small idea (and a lot of love) has grown into a full-blown learning adventure for kids aged 4 to 12.
Here, every child is truly seen and valued. Our trauma-informed educators are attuned to each child’s unique needs, providing thoughtful support that helps every learner feel safe, understood, and celebrated—whether they’re shy, energetic, or somewhere in between.

Loved by Learners, Trusted by Parents.
Seriously! But don’t take our word for it, here are some things people have to say about us.
Thank you for all y’all do and creating such a safe space for the kiddos. I see my son and I think of my dad, my grandpas, all the ones that came before and that will come after.. and i know that this is all so healing to our lineage. The love, care, and compassion these kids are living at your program is so revolutionary.

“My 8 year old daughter was a bit hesitant about joining a new group and really it only took a few minutes on her first day to get comfortable and enjoy the amazing experience that this place provides. We are grateful for the teachers and families that make this place so special. A safe place for learning, growing and making friends.”

“This is a very special homeschool group! We have had the opportunity to participate in park days, special events and the drop off garden class. My 6 year old looks forward to it every week. Ms. Janet and Ms. Brie have created a space for our children like no other and full of love. Their passion is infectious and the kids benefit from it all. They nurture friendships, yoga, gardening, art, cooking and so much more. While in a healthy, loving and safe environment where parents have peace of mind- even us parents learn so much being part of this community.”
