Our Story Begins Here
It all began with a Mother’s dream
Our Story
Flourish began with one mother's dream to create the kind of community she couldn't find for her own family—a place where children could learn with wonder, parents felt supported, and meaningful friendships could grow.
What started as a small homeschool group has grown into Flourish Learning Collective, a nature-centered learning community serving families across San Diego. Along the way, we've discovered that children flourish when they are surrounded by meaningful academics, caring relationships, time in nature, and a true sense of belonging.
While our programs continue to grow, the heart of Flourish remains the same: helping children understand the world, discover who they are, and recognize that they belong within something much bigger than themselves..
2022
It began with park meetups. Families gathered to connect, play, and build community.
2023
Community became learning. Weekly outdoor classes brought families together through science, art, beekeeping, gardening, and workshops led by talented members of our own community. At one point, more than 35 families gathered for a single science class.
2024
A dream found a home.
A $10,000 VELA Education Fund grant helped turn a mother's dream into a place where children could learn with wonder. We transformed our learning studio, patio, and garden into welcoming educational spaces, launched our drop-off enrichment program, and expanded access by providing 28 scholarships for families in our community.
2025
Flourish Enrichment grew.
What began as a small dream had become a thriving learning community. Our programs began filling months before each semester, families joined a growing waitlist, and nearly every enrollment came through word of mouth. Most importantly, children were thriving—in their learning, their confidence, and their sense of belonging.
Today
Still growing. Flourish has grown into a nature-centered learning collective offering Outdoor Academic Pods, Flourish Explorers, and a vibrant homeschool community that gathers throughout the year. While our programs have evolved, our purpose remains the same: to create places where children experience meaningful learning, wonder, and belonging.
Meet the Team
-
FounderJannet is the founder of Flourish Homeschool Group, a thriving homeschool community and enrichment program based in San Diego. What began as her personal search for connection as a single mother homeschooling her two boys has grown into a vibrant network of over 1,500 families.
Before stepping into the world of home education, Jannet spent over 12 years as an entrepreneur and served as a CFO and controller for restaurants and hotels. Her business acumen, leadership, and financial expertise laid a strong foundation for building sustainable, community-driven programs.
With support from the VELA Education Fund, she launched a two-day-a-week drop-off enrichment program that now fills months in advance—offering children hands-on learning in nature, art, gardening, and science, while giving parents the support and breathing space they need.
Jannet’s vision is to expand Flourish into a five-day learning space that nurtures children’s curiosity, strengthens families, and revives the “village” of community support that every family deserves. As both a mother and a mission-driven leader, she is passionate about reimagining education in a way that honors connection, creativity, and community.

Arts DirectorShe is a multidisciplinary artist with over ten years of experience in graphic design, flamenco dance, and photography.
Her contribution to the arts program focuses on creating creative experiences that allow each person to understand and express their inner world through visual forms and tangible processes. Through thoughtfully designed activities, she supports the transformation of emotional and abstract experiences into images, structures, and physical forms that support integration and expression.
Her approach integrates drawing, illustration, hands-on art practices, movement, and sensory exploration as ways of giving form to internal experiences, supporting conscious development through direct and experiential engagement.
She also incorporates elements from nature as an essential part of the creative process, encouraging the mindful use of natural materials and artistic exploration, strengthening sensitivity, creativity, and connection to the environment.
All of this work is oriented toward supporting the holistic growth of each individual and cultivating a harmonious, respectful, and safe environment, where art becomes a tool for human development, shared values, and community well-being.
Our Mission
At Flourish Learning Collective, we believe childhood deserves to be protected and learning should inspire wonder. We create nature-centered learning experiences that combine meaningful academics, hands-on exploration, creativity, and community so children can grow with confidence, curiosity, and a genuine love of learning.
We believe education is more than preparing children for the future—it is helping them fully experience the present. When children are given time to explore, ask questions, create, move, and belong, they don't simply gain knowledge; they develop the confidence to understand themselves, care for the world around them, and contribute to it with purpose.
Every Flourish program is intentionally designed to nurture the whole child. Whether children are strengthening their reading and mathematics skills in our Outdoor Academic Pods, discovering science through experiments, gardens and exploration in Flourish Explorers, or building lifelong friendships through our community gatherings, they are learning in environments where they feel seen, valued, and inspired.
